World’s Largest Exhibition for Solar Industry Recognizes ViZn for Innovative Z20 Energy Storage System
Columbia Falls, MT – June 9, 2014 – Today ViZn Energy Systems, Inc., a pioneer in large-scale energy storage technology, announces it has been selected as a winner of the 2014 Intersolar Europe Electrical Energy Storage (ees) Award for their Z20 energy storage system.
3,500 companies from all international Intersolar exhibitions and the electrical energy storage (ees) exhibition were invited to participate in the 2014 awards which were presented live on June 6, 2014 at Intersolar Europe in Munich. Making its official debut this year, the ees Award honors outstanding products and solutions in the fields of materials, production, systems technology, applications, second-use concepts and recycling. Judges select the recipients based on the degree of technological innovation, economic viability and benefit their solutions bring to the industry and environment.
ViZn’s Zinc Redox Flow Battery is one of the most cost-effective, scalable and safe energy flow batteries on the market. Energy storage is now one of the greatest challenges faced by the energy transition. With systems already in the field for testing, ViZn’s patented technology is positioned to break the cost/benefit threshold that has limited widespread adoption.
“The jury was impressed by the well-designed, ecological prototypes, which avoid the use of dangerous substances in storage systems,” said the judges in an official statement. “The use of cost-efficient raw materials translates to the potential for considerable cost reductions, particularly in comparison with today’s vanadium redox-flow technology – another reason why the product was honored with the ees AWARD.”
