Military

The Department of Defense (DoD) has more than 2 billion square feet of buildings under management and they have ordered military bases across the armed services to shift 25% of their electricity supply to renewable energy by 2025. All bases are looking to become more resilient and forward bases are looking to eliminate the long and dangerous diesel resupply routes.

On-base renewable energy such as wind and solar can offset diesel usage, but the wind doesn’t always blow and sun doesn’t always shine. The most cost-effective and resilient method to deploy clean energy uses a microgrid with storage, solar, and a diesel generator. Together, they have been proven to reduce the diesel generator run time by more than 90%.

According to a Government Accountability Office (GAO):

  • Some 8o percent of U.S. military casualties in Afghanistan are due to improvised explosive devices, many of which are placed in the path of supply convoy
  • 44 trucks and 220,000 gallons of fuel were lost due to attacks or other events while delivering fuel to Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan in June 2008 alone
  • The fully burdened cost of getting fuel to bases can exceed $400/gallon

Headquartered in Texas, the team at ViZn Energy spent the last eight years perfecting our unique battery to be the heart of resilient microgrid systems that can make your base self-sufficient and eliminate 9 out of 10 supply convoys. Unlike some of the currently popular battery technology, our domestically sourced systems can be deployed without worry near high-value grid and project infrastructure because it runs on a safe chemistry that is non-toxic, non-flammable, and non-explosive.
